Good Typography?
- I chose this graphic design example because I thought it was very unique and interesting. I like that it had a positive message and encouraged unity and harmony. I also really like whimsical fonts that help your eye to flow and are visually appealing and pretty.
- I think the purpose of the design is to be an inspirational message. Since it is a quote that people often use, I believe that the creator of this wanted to put it in a more literal sense. However, I only found this online and am not sure the original placement of this graphic design.
- I think the message of this design is teamwork, unity, and diversity. I like that the skin tones of each hand is different so you can tell that it is multiple people coming together. The black portion of the font is called Tut.tut. It has a rhythmic flow that was based on an abstract street dancing called tutting. I think the intended audience is for someone who likes to be encouraged or inspired. I initially thought the design idea of hand spelling hands was really cute and it made me smile.
- I think this breaks traditional design because they had to incorporate images to create lettering rather than sticking to a precise font. There are many things about it that are inline with traditional design as well. Everything is centered, and even. The dark font stands out against the white background. And it is easy to read and understand. Other than the photo-shop of the hands might look a little amateur, I don’t see any problem with the or issue with the design.
